Broad Band Light (BBL) Treatments

BBL uses light energy to diminish sun damage, fine lines, acne and enlarged pores.

The natural aging process and repeated sun exposure can damage your skin over time. Amethyst Wellness in Palm Coast, Florida offers BBL treatments to help restore a more even-toned, youthful appearance in as few as 3 sessions. BBL stands for broadband light and can treat any part of the body.

BBL delivers light energy to gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. In addition, the light energy penetrates deep into the skin to boost your body’s natural ability to fight the appearance of aging. The result? Skin that’s naturally beautiful and visibly younger looking, year after year!

BBL treatments stimulate new collagen production to give the skin a firmer, smoother appearance and a more even skin tone.

BBL treats:

  • Active Acne
  • Age Spots
  • Sun Damage
  • Fine Lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Redness and Rosacea
  • Flushing
  • Small Facial Vessels
  • Enlarged Pores

BBL treatments effectively reduce various skin discolorations such as age spots, superficial freckles, sun-damaged skin, and hyperpigmentation. BBL also improves the appearance of broken capillaries, spider veins, facial redness, and rosacea.

After a series of BBL treatments, most clients see improvement in their skin. BBL is one of the most effective ways to slow down the aging process.

Q: Can BBL treatments reverse sun damage?

A: Yes. BBL treatments reverse sun damage and decrease signs of aging by boosting collagen production. BBL works by using a broad-spectrum light source that penetrates multiple layers of skin.  The light is attracted to the melanin in the skin and it brings the color to the surface of the skin where it eventually sloughs off. The heat generated from the light promotes healing of the skin.

Q: Is there downtime after a BBL treatment?

A: BBL treatments are non-invasive and carry minimal risks. There’s no downtime involved and you can immediately resume your normal activities.  Some dark spots may become darker before they slough off.  Others experience reddening of the skin, like a sunburn which can last from several hours up to a few days.  You may wear make-up during that time.  You also want to avoid too much sunlight for 2-3 weeks as the skin will be more vulnerable to sun damage during this time.   Be sure to use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.

Q: What’s a BBL treatment like?

A: The treatment process is simple and takes about 20 minutes. During the BBL treatment, a medical professional applies a cool gel to the treatment area.  You’ll be given protective goggles to protect your eyes from the intense light.  The BBL hand piece will be placed on your skin allowing the light rays to penetrate the skin’s surface using precise pulses. Some people might experience mild to moderate discomfort like a rubber band being snapped against skin.

Q: How many treatments are required?

A: A series of 3-4 treatments is recommended to see full results.  The skin continues to improve with each successive treatment.  Having 2-3 treatments per year as maintenance is a fantastic anti-aging program.

Q: What should I do before my treatment?

A:

  • Use sunscreen and physical sun protection.
  • Avoid extended sun exposure, i.e. beach, travel to sunny locations, sunbathing, sports outdoors.
  • Inform your BBL clinician if any physician has ordered Accutane for you in the last 6 months.
  • Inform your provider of any medical conditions or medications you are taking that might sensitize you to light, affect wound healing or affect coagulation.
