If you desire smoother, less wrinkled skin around your forehead, eyes, or mouth, anti-aging Botox® can help. The injected medication takes minutes, causes only minimal discomfort, and typically lasts for several months. Amy Coopersmith, ARNP is pleased to offer Botox treatments at Amethyst Wellness in Palm Coast, Florida.
Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved prescription medication for wrinkles in which injections ofBotulinum Toxin temporarily paralyze targeted muscles. The reduced movement creates a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. It can be used to reduce moderate to severe lines in your forehead, crow’s feet and lines around your mouth caused by smoking.
Each Botox treatment takes only a few minutes, and an entire appointment takes about 10 minutes. While no anesthesia is required, applying ice or topical numbing cream beforehand can help minimize any discomfort. Even without numbing measures, the injections may not cause much discomfort. Many people compare the sensation to a tiny pinch. Following your Botox treatment, you can get straight back to your usual daily activities.
The number of Botox injections you’ll need varies, depending on the severity of the creases and your personal treatment goals. In general, crow’s feet require injections in 2 areas that frame your eyes. For frown lines, 5 injections are typically injected into your forehead.
You may begin to see improvements from Botox within 24-48 hours of your treatment, but sometimes it can take up to 10 days to see results. Full results can last up to 4 months.
Like most medical and cosmetic procedures, side effects are possible, including eyelid swelling, dry mouth, tiredness, headache, neck pain, vision changes, and allergic reactions. More common side effects, such as temporary discomfort and swelling at the injection sites, are mild.
You should avoid intense exercise for at least 2 hours after your Botox treatment. Exercise increases circulation, which could move the injection before it has been fully absorbed by your body. You may also want to avoid lying down or rubbing your face after your treatment for similar reasons.
Botox isn’t appropriate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a neurological disease or allergy to albumin.
Botox can work just as well for men as it does for women. Clinical studies showed that 17.5% of
people treated for moderate to severe frown lines were men.
