Contouring Q & A

What is body contouring?

Body contouring procedures help you attain the physique you desire through minimall invasive treatments, such as laser therapy, provided at Amethyst Wellness. While body contouring isn't a substitute for healthy lifestyle habits, such as a nutritious diet and regular physical activity, it may enhance these efforts by targeting your perceived trouble areas or by tightening loose skin after significant weight loss.

What causes cellulite?

The bumps and dimples of cellulite derive from normal fat accumulation beneath your skin. The fat pushes against connective tissues, causing your skin to pucker. While cellulite is common for people of all genders, shapes, and sizes, a low-nutrient diet, fad dieting, inactivity, dehydration, hormone changes, and a slow metabolism can contribute. It tends to be less visible in darker skin and affects more women than men.

Do cellulite reducing treatments work?

A variety of treatments are available for reducing the lumps and bumps of cellulite, but not all are effective. Topical skin creams may help to some degree if they're combined with other treatments. Liposuction is oven used to remove fat, but it can worsen the appearance of cellulite. The effectiveness of the chemical injections mesotherapy aren’t well proven, and they pose a variety of risks. Amethyst Wellness provides Pellefirm, which can safely and visibly smooth skin within 6 treatments.*

How can PelleFirm help?

PelleFirm uses radiofrequency technology and massage to heat tissues under your skin, temporarily reducing the appearance of cellulite. The noninvasive treatment works by moving fluids which your body’s lymphatic system expels naturally. While you may experience slight redness after your treatment, it diminishes quickly on its own, and there's no need for downtime. Sessions twice per week until you reach your desired results are recommended, followed by maintenance treatments once every 6 months.
